Tuesday’s Letters to Heaven – Daniel

Dear Daniel,

Whenever I read about you in the Bible, it gets me all revved up. You possess such true faith in our LORD. It truly touches my heart. After they captured you, you were brave enough to tell them you wouldn’t eat the king’s meat. You did not want to defile your body with earthly pleasures. That is an inspiration to me to know that God is with us when we take a stand for his cause. You proved the goodness of God’s way so vividly that it caused them to change the diet of the other captives. It makes me think about how if we live for God, we can create changes in the world around us!

One of the things that speaks to me the most is how you would always pray in your room, and you were not ashamed. You never hid or pretended that you were doing something else. You did not care if you were caught. You merely did what God wanted you to do. I pray for the gentle boldness that you have. May God help me to increase in my faith and boldness for Him!

Even when the king sentenced you to the lions’ den, you still stayed faithful. I have to admit, I would have been scared out of my mind! Maybe you were but you kept calm by God’s grace. Either way, God protected you and brought glory to His name through that. How amazing!

I want to thank you for your testimony and faithfulness to the LORD. Your life story encourages me to be a better Christian! Your journey pushes me to pray for more compassion and sensitivity. Thank you for allowing God to use you in such a great way!

I cannot wait to meet you in heaven. I have so many questions I would love to ask you! I would love to find out what happened in the lions’ den that night. What was the angel like? Was it Jesus? What did the lions do when their mouths were closed?

I also would love to hear the stories of you, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. I am sure that you all had some glorious times together. Were you present when they were put inside the furnace? What an experience that must have been!

Anyway, I am thankful for all that you have taught me about living a godly life. I pray that the Lord will rapture us home soon, and I will get to meet you!
